SourceAmerica Audit Preparation Case Study

This case study details the collaboration between SourceAmerica and Red River Managed Services to achieve compliance with NIST 800-171 standards. SourceAmerica, a nonprofit organization focused on creating employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities, faced challenges in meeting the compliance requirements necessary for government contracts. To address these challenges, SourceAmerica engaged Red River for support in preparing for an official audit. The process began with a self-audit that revealed numerous deficiencies, which were subsequently reduced to six with the assistance of NuHarbor Security, a consulting firm specializing in NIST standards. Red River implemented necessary security measures, including a Secret Server instance and network configurations, while also providing real-time support during the Defense Contract Management Agency audit. The results were significant, with SourceAmerica's compliance score improving from -237 to -14, showcasing the effectiveness of the partnership. SourceAmerica expressed satisfaction with the services provided and intends to continue utilizing Red River's auditing support.
