This application note presents an analysis of amino acid concentrations across thirteen different Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) media formulations using the REBEL XT System. CHO cells are recognized for their role in producing therapeutic proteins, making the accurate measurement of amino acids crucial for cell growth and protein production. The study outlines the variability in amino acid levels among the media samples, highlighting that concentrations ranged from 0.03 mM for choline to 19.3 mM for asparagine. The REBEL XT System provides rapid analysis, yielding results in under 15 minutes, which facilitates timely insights into media composition. The findings indicate significant differences in total amino acid concentrations, with a variation factor of 7.3 across the samples. This variability underscores the importance of characterizing media for optimizing CHO cell culture processes. The application note concludes that the REBEL XT System is an effective tool for enhancing media characterization and process control in biopharmaceutical development.
