This short report presents a comparative analysis of three sarcopenia screening questionnaires—SARC-F, MRSA-5, and MRSA-7—specifically in Egyptian patients diagnosed with chronic heart failure (CHF) and left ventricular systolic dysfunction. The study involved 90 participants and aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of these tools in detecting sarcopenia, a significant comorbidity in CHF that can lead to adverse health outcomes. The research utilized the European Working Group on Sarcopenia in Older People (EWGSOP2) criteria as a reference standard for diagnosis. The results indicated that the SARC-F questionnaire exhibited the highest specificity and positive predictive value, while the MRSA-5 demonstrated superior sensitivity and accuracy. The MRSA-7 provided a balanced diagnostic performance. The findings suggest a tiered approach to sarcopenia screening, utilizing MRSA-5 for initial detection followed by SARC-F for confirmation, which may enhance clinical practice in managing sarcopenia in CHF patients.
