This article presents a case study evaluating the effectiveness of immersive virtual reality (VR) as a training tool for electrical substation workers. It addresses the high-risk nature of tasks performed in electrical substations, where operational failures can lead to significant accidents. The study is structured into three phases: comparing VR training with traditional methods, assessing knowledge retention in real project environments, and conducting emergency simulations to measure response capabilities. Results indicate that VR training significantly enhances knowledge retention, risk identification, and decision-making under pressure. The findings suggest that VR can provide a safe and practical training experience, potentially reducing occupational accidents in high-risk environments. The article also discusses the current statistics on occupational accidents in Spain's electrical sector, emphasizing the need for improved training methodologies to address safety concerns. Overall, the research confirms the value of VR in enhancing training effectiveness and worker safety in electrical substation operations.
