This case study details the implementation of ResourceSpace at The Ashmolean Museum, which is part of the University of Oxford. The museum, founded 350 years ago, required an updated Digital Asset Management (DAM) system to improve its collections management processes. In 2021, Christopher Monaghan was appointed as the Museum Systems Implementation Manager to lead this project. The museum transitioned from an outdated Collections Management System (CMS) to MuseumPlus, while also introducing ResourceSpace as a new DAM. The integration of these two systems has streamlined workflows, allowing for a single source of truth for data related to objects and digital assets. This integration has simplified the process of adding new items and has enhanced efficiency in file sharing and metadata searching. Chris Monaghan noted significant time savings and positive user feedback regarding the new system, highlighting the benefits of open-source software and the responsive support from the ResourceSpace team.
