This technical report evaluates the performance of two automated nucleic acid purification systems focusing on high molecular weight (HMW) DNA extraction efficiency from blood samples. The study compares the chemagic™ 360 instrument with chemagic DNA extraction kits against an alternative magnetic bead-based system. Key performance metrics such as DNA yield, purity, and integrity are assessed. The chemagic system demonstrated superior extraction efficiency, yielding higher quantities of pure DNA with better integrity, which is crucial for applications like long-read sequencing and long-term storage stability. The report outlines the methodologies used for extraction, including sample collection and processing steps, and presents data on the comparative performance of the systems.
