This case study documents the collaborative partnership between Rho and Anthera Pharmaceuticals in the development of liprotamase (Sollpura) for treating exocrine pancreatic insufficiency due to cystic fibrosis. The partnership began with a small feasibility project and expanded to include global project management for the pivotal SOLUTION study, as well as regulatory support for the Biologics License Application (BLA) and Marketing-Authorization Application (MAA). The study aimed to demonstrate that Sollpura was not less effective than existing products. Rho's expertise in cystic fibrosis and strong relationships with clinical sites facilitated efficient study execution. The case study outlines the operational efficiencies gained, including streamlined processes and consistent project teams, which led to reduced timelines for study enrollment. Notably, the RESULT study achieved enrollment in half the time of the SOLUTION study, highlighting the effectiveness of the collaborative approach. The partnership exemplifies the importance of understanding the complexities of clinical trials in the cystic fibrosis space.
