Automating Flour Processing in Colombia

This technical report outlines the collaboration between Básculas Mauri and Rice Lake to develop a sophisticated weighing system for flour processing in Colombia. The project involved designing weigh belt feeders that comply with ATEX Zone 22 requirements due to the explosive nature of flour dust. The engineering team faced several challenges, including ensuring safety and efficiency in the automation process. The report details the integration of the Master weigh belt feeder, which was selected for its ability to maintain a consistent flow of material. The system was designed to weigh flour during its conveyance from ships and again upon arrival at the factory, utilizing custom software for data capture and integration with the customer's ERP system. The successful installation and operation of the system demonstrate the capabilities of Básculas Mauri in addressing complex industrial weighing needs while adhering to safety standards.
