Record-Setting Cake Ball Weighing Process

This document is a case study detailing the collaboration between Scooter’s Coffee and Scales Sales & Service to weigh a record-setting pastry treat, specifically the world's largest cake ball, using Rice Lake's Summit floor scale. The objective of the partnership was to meet the strict weighing requirements set by Guinness World Records, which specified a scale capable of weighing 300 kilograms with a resolution of 1 gram. To achieve this, modifications were made to the rental Summit scale, including swapping load cells to enhance precision. On March 23, 2023, the cake ball, assembled during the Scooter’s Coffee GROW Conference, was officially weighed at 848 pounds, successfully setting a new world record. The case study also outlines the importance of accurate weighing in maintaining quality and consistency within Scooter’s Coffee operations, showcasing their ongoing use of Rice Lake’s weighing solutions across their business processes.
