This case study details the project undertaken by a Japanese precious metal recovery firm to split its 20+ year-old SAP system into three independent entities as part of its global expansion strategy. The project involved significant challenges, including the need to synchronize master and transaction data across new instances, develop custom programs for inter-company transactions, and address evolving business requirements and technical debt. Major systems integrators declined to take on the project due to its complexity, but Rimini Street committed to the task. A team of SAP and ABAP experts conducted a deep technical assessment, resolved critical coding issues, and ensured compliance requirements were met. The successful outcome was the launch of three fully synchronized SAP instances with zero downtime, demonstrating Rimini Street's capability to manage complex ERP transformations effectively. The project resulted in improved data synchronization and strategic agility for the client, facilitating future integrations.
