This technical report discusses the implementation of machine learning-supported robots in quality control processes within automotive manufacturing, specifically at the BMW Group's plant in Dingolfing, Germany. It outlines the challenges faced by manufacturers in adapting production lines to meet rapid technological advancements and customer expectations. The report details a flexible solution that integrates reprogrammable industrial robots, computer vision, and AI-based learning models to enhance quality assurance. It explains the role of collaborative robots and a no-code software platform developed by Wandelbots GmbH, which simplifies the programming of robots for various manufacturing scenarios. Additionally, the report describes how the Realtime Computer Vision software platform, in conjunction with Microsoft Azure Machine Learning Operations, facilitates the rapid creation and deployment of AI models for quality evaluation. The findings indicate that this approach not only improves the efficiency of quality control but also supports modular and agile manufacturing processes across the automotive sector and beyond.
