This technical report presents an evaluation of query latency characteristics of Rockset, a real-time indexing database, using the Star Schema Benchmark (SSB). The SSB is a recognized industry-standard benchmark designed to measure database performance for analytical applications. The report outlines the methodology used to assess Rockset's performance, focusing on query latency, which is critical for real-time analytics. It details the configuration of the Rockset environment, including the hardware setup and data ingestion processes. The report also describes the SSB queries, their structure, and the varying levels of selectivity involved. Performance evaluation steps are documented, including query modifications and measurement of query latencies. The results indicate that Rockset executed all SSB queries with a response time of under one second, with a median response time of 254 milliseconds. The report concludes with an analysis of how Rockset's features, such as the Converged Index and clustering, contribute to improved query performance.
