This case study details the network infrastructure upgrade undertaken by Regional School Unit (RSU) 25 in Bucksport, Maine, to modernize its technology capabilities. Faced with challenges from aging buildings and outdated network systems, the district aimed to provide high-speed wireless connectivity for its 1,100 students across six buildings. The solution involved the installation of RUCKUS® equipment, which included 101 wireless access points, 33 switches, and two on-premises SmartZone™ network controllers. The upgraded network not only improved bandwidth and coverage but also provided centralized management for the IT staff. The system demonstrated resilience during power outages and allowed for seamless expansion as the district increased its technology programs. Additionally, the new setup ensured secure network spaces for students, staff, and guests, addressing critical security challenges. Overall, the upgrade facilitated reliable connectivity, enabling effective use of technology in educational settings.
