This case study details the network infrastructure upgrade at Paycom Center, home to the NBA's OKC Thunder. The objective was to enhance the arena's wired and wireless capabilities to meet large public venue standards. The upgrade involved the installation of 250 access points and 349 RUCKUS ICX switches, significantly improving network performance and capacity. The new system supports high data throughput, with average speeds of 51 Mbps download and 49 Mbps upload during peak usage. The design included a high-density Wi-Fi solution that accommodates various seating configurations and ensures compliance with stringent requirements. The deployment of Wi-Fi 6 technology allows for advanced features such as 4K video streaming. RUCKUS AI is utilized for service assurance and business intelligence, enhancing operational efficiency. The upgrade has led to increased fan engagement and satisfaction, with notable improvements in connectivity and reduced complaints about network reliability. Overall, the project exemplifies a successful collaboration between Paycom Center and RUCKUS Networks.
