This case study outlines the collaboration between ecoLocked, a Berlin-based climate tech startup, and Russell Finex to enhance the production of carbon-negative concrete admix. Founded in 2021, ecoLocked specializes in providing the construction industry with climate-friendly building materials, specifically its pioneering product, eLM Zero, which lowers concrete's net carbon footprint by up to 100%. The startup faced challenges in scaling production due to labor-intensive manual sieving methods for biochar. To address this, ecoLocked sought an automated sieving solution to improve efficiency and support continuous operation. The Finex Ultima™ from Russell Finex was identified as a suitable solution, allowing ecoLocked to automate the sieving process and produce different particle size fractions more rapidly. This partnership has enabled ecoLocked to optimize its admix materials, ensuring quality and consistent performance for its customers while facilitating the scaling of production volumes.
