This research report outlines the unique challenges and opportunities faced by Black women founders in Atlanta. It highlights Atlanta's status as a city with the highest concentration of Black entrepreneurs in the U.S., where 20% of small and medium businesses are owned by Black individuals. The report details the systemic barriers that hinder the growth of these entrepreneurs, including lack of financial capital, mentorship, and training opportunities. It emphasizes the need for collaboration among businesses, public bodies, and non-profits to support these founders. The report categorizes Black women founders into three groups: Navigators, Maintainers, and Thrivers, each facing distinct challenges and requiring tailored support. By addressing these challenges and fostering collaboration, the report aims to empower Black women entrepreneurs and drive economic growth in Atlanta. The findings call for strategic initiatives to enhance financial accessibility, mentorship, and community development, ultimately contributing to a more equitable entrepreneurial landscape.
