This document is a case study detailing the collaboration between Sagitec and a Midwestern public pension plan to enhance the security of its self-service web portals. The pension plan faced challenges with its existing authentication solution, which included the need for constant server maintenance, difficulties in implementing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and a lack of sufficient historical user data. To address these issues, the agency sought to integrate Okta's identity management platform, which offers features such as MFA, single sign-on, and user provisioning. The case study outlines the steps taken to implement Okta, including outsourcing the login process and leveraging its low-code, cloud-based capabilities. It highlights the benefits of using Okta, such as improved user activity tracking, elimination of on-prem servers, and instant access to the latest security features. The partnership aims to ensure that only authorized users can access the web portals while maintaining high security standards.
