This document is the 29th edition of the IBM Institute for Business Value C-suite Study series, focusing on insights gathered from over 2,500 CEOs across more than 30 countries and 26 industries. Conducted in collaboration with Oxford Economics, the study involved survey-based interviews that explored key themes such as leadership, technology, talent, and enterprise transformation amidst the evolving landscape shaped by generative AI. The findings indicate that a significant majority of CEOs recognize the necessity of embracing risk to maintain a competitive edge, with many indicating a willingness to rewrite their business strategies. The report outlines six critical capabilities that distinguish high-performing CEOs, emphasizing the importance of innovation, effective strategy development, and active ecosystem engagement. Additionally, it discusses the shifting priorities and challenges faced by CEOs, including the need for business model innovation and the integration of advanced technologies to drive growth and profitability in an increasingly uncertain environment.
