This case study details the recruitment challenges faced during a Phase 2 clinical trial for early-stage, treatment-naïve Parkinson's disease patients. The trial encountered significant difficulties in identifying and enrolling eligible participants, compounded by an underperforming referral vendor and slow recruitment at traditional clinical sites. These challenges threatened the study's aggressive six-month enrollment timeline, necessitating the implementation of a more effective recruitment strategy. Science 37 was introduced to enhance the recruitment process, ultimately exceeding its enrollment commitment and becoming the highest enrolling site. The study employed remote screening and clinical evaluations, allowing participants to engage from home while maintaining high standards of data collection. The results demonstrated a successful enrollment of 46 patients by Science 37, significantly surpassing the initial contract target of 40 patients, with a retention rate of 98%. This case study illustrates the effectiveness of innovative recruitment strategies in clinical trials.
