This case study details the implementation of a company-wide sales and operations planning (S&OP) process at Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc., a life sciences and clinical diagnostics organization based in Hercules, California. The objective was to unify operations across various departments, which had previously operated in a disconnected manner. Bio-Rad sought a solution that would enhance forecasting accuracy and collaboration while providing a robust method for measuring progress across its global sites. After evaluating several supply chain orchestration platforms, Bio-Rad selected the Kinaxis Maestro platform, which was implemented with the assistance of IBM. The platform's native functionalities allowed for a streamlined implementation without extensive customizations. The case study highlights the positive impact of Kinaxis on Bio-Rad's forecasting capabilities and employee satisfaction, as team members preferred the modern tools over traditional methods like Excel spreadsheets. Future plans include expanding the use of Kinaxis to additional divisions and optimizing transportation planning.
