This clinical trial report evaluates the effectiveness of quantitative neuromuscular monitoring in guiding tracheal intubation conditions compared to a fixed time interval following rocuronium administration. The study involved 167 adult patients undergoing elective surgery requiring neuromuscular block. Participants were divided into two groups: one group had intubation initiated two minutes after rocuronium administration, while the other group was intubated based on a quantitative train-of-four (TOF) count. The primary endpoint was the proportion of patients achieving ideal intubating conditions. Results indicated a higher success rate in the TOF-guided group (73%) compared to the time-based group (57%), with significant differences in overall intubating conditions. The findings suggest that quantitative monitoring can improve intubation outcomes by providing objective measurements rather than relying solely on elapsed time. The study supports the integration of quantitative neuromuscular monitoring into the induction phase of anesthesia to enhance airway management.
