This report analyzes the characteristics and expectations of Generation Z employees, defined as those born between 1997 and 2012. It aims to debunk common myths and stereotypes about Gen Z in the workplace, providing insights based on research conducted by Seramount’s Chief Diversity Officer Collaborative. The research involved reviewing over 200 sources and conducting Employee Voice Sessions to gather perspectives from both Gen Z and older employees. The findings reveal that Gen Z is ambitious, motivated, and seeks meaningful work experiences. The report identifies five prevalent myths about Gen Z, such as perceptions of laziness and lack of loyalty, and contrasts these with five truths that highlight their desire for career advancement, flexibility, and a supportive work environment. The document also emphasizes the importance of understanding these dynamics for fostering inclusive workplaces and enhancing cross-generational communication.
