This technical report discusses the application of LabSolutions MD software for efficient method development, specifically focusing on the evaluation of design spaces for different brands of C18 columns. The report outlines how the selectivity of six brands of C18 columns was assessed using a basic compound, an acidic compound, and a neutral compound as target analytes. The analysis employed isocratic separation with varying concentrations of organic solvents and established design spaces for minimum resolution. The findings indicate that the Shim-pack Arata C18 column demonstrates unique selectivity compared to other C18 columns, maintaining superior resolution even under varying conditions. The report further illustrates how design spaces can facilitate the identification of optimal separation conditions, thereby streamlining the method development process.
