Siemon ConvergeIT Cabling Solution for PoE Lighting

This document is a case study detailing the implementation of a Power over Ethernet (PoE) lighting system at Clark-Shaw Magnet Middle School in Mobile, Alabama. Siemon collaborated with Cisco and Cree to deploy this innovative lighting solution, aimed at collecting data to assess its benefits for future district-wide applications. The project utilizes Cisco's Digital Building framework, which integrates various building systems onto a secure network. The case study outlines the advantages of LED lighting over traditional fluorescent options, including energy efficiency, reduced maintenance costs, and improved user experience. The pilot project allows for a direct comparison of energy consumption and student productivity between floors using PoE lighting and fluorescent lighting. The document also discusses the zone cabling design used for the installation, which simplifies deployment and reconfiguration of lighting fixtures.
