Waterproofing of Channel in ENEL Hydroelectric Power Station

This document is a technical report detailing the waterproofing project undertaken at the ENEL hydroelectric power station in Castenuovo de Garfagnana, Italy. The project aimed to address urgent waterproofing needs to maintain energy production at the facility, which was built in 1926 and required repairs within a tight 10-day timeframe. The report outlines the challenges faced, including concrete spalling and rebar corrosion, which necessitated the use of specific Sika products for repair and waterproofing. The solutions implemented included the use of SikaEmaco® S repair mortars for substrate repairs, followed by the application of Sikalastic®-6100 FX as the waterproofing membrane. The document details the application process, including the area covered and material consumption, highlighting the efficiency of the chosen products. The project was completed successfully within three days, allowing the hydroelectric station to resume operations promptly, thus preventing potential financial losses.
