This case study outlines the challenges faced by a construction industry client regarding payroll, tax, and human resources functions. The assessment revealed significant issues, including a high risk of fraud, incorrect Form W-2s issued to 20 percent of employees, and a delay in the fiscal year close due to discrepancies. The client was also facing $1.6 million in back taxes owed to the IRS. To address these challenges, a five-month solution process was implemented, which included stabilizing a newly implemented system, reconfiguring the Human Resources and Payroll environment, and consolidating multiple databases to reduce fraud risk. The results of these interventions led to the establishment of a centralized service delivery platform, the creation of a global view of all employees, and the elimination of future payroll-related IRS fines. The case study emphasizes the importance of effective payroll management and the impact of systematic solutions on organizational efficiency.
