This case study outlines the implementation of enhanced identity security measures at Pembroke College, Cambridge, focusing on the integration of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and improved service account management. The college's IT department identified significant risks associated with unauthorized access to privileged accounts and limited visibility into service account activities. To address these challenges, they sought a solution that would enforce MFA across all privileged users and provide better oversight of service accounts. The collaboration with C-STEM led to the introduction of the Silverfort solution, which was evaluated for its seamless integration and effectiveness. The implementation process began with a proof-of-concept on a single domain controller, allowing for a smooth transition before full deployment. Key capabilities included advanced risk-based authentication and automated discovery of service account usage. The deployment resulted in strengthened identity security, improved visibility, and a reduction in identity-based threats, thereby enhancing the overall cybersecurity posture of Pembroke College.
