Property Management Insider Activity Detection Case Study

This case study details the collaboration between a property management organization and SilverSky to enhance security visibility through the deployment of Lightning MxDR. The objective was to detect unauthorized insider activity during the onboarding process. Within the first 24 hours, SilverSky's Security Operations Center analysts correlated numerous low- and medium-severity events, which, while appearing benign individually, collectively indicated unauthorized privileged activity. This situation posed a significant risk to the organization. The study outlines how SilverSky's advanced analytics and continuous monitoring identified suspicious behavior linked to an administrator workstation, revealing unauthorized VPN and proxy services that bypassed security controls.
