This case study outlines the challenges faced by a state government's technology department in modernizing their identity and access management (IAM) platform. The existing system was outdated and overburdened, leading to security risks and inefficiencies as it mixed internal state users with external citizens. The agency initiated a request for proposal (RFP) to find a capable partner to rebuild and support the IAM system. Simeio emerged as a trusted partner, demonstrating expertise in IAM and the ability to deliver a secure, scalable solution. The implementation included the integration of various Ping Identity solutions, such as Ping Federate and Ping Directory, to create a seamless identity platform. The project involved migrating 1.5 million identities and onboarding 85 applications while ensuring minimal disruption to existing workflows. The case study highlights the successful delivery of a future-ready IAM solution that improved security and user experience, enabling features like Single Sign-On (SSO) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
