This document is a technical report detailing the Agentic Ontology of Work (AOW), which serves as a foundational semantic model for intelligent, autonomous, and governed enterprise workflows. It outlines the need for a shared ontology to facilitate understanding and governance of agentic systems, which are evolving to operate across complex operational landscapes. The report describes the goals of the AOW, emphasizing the establishment of a platform-agnostic semantic framework that enables interoperability among various systems, including multi-agent systems and robotic process automation. It also highlights six design principles that guide the ontology's development, such as platform agnosticism and governed autonomy. Furthermore, the document presents a conceptual landscape of the agentic enterprise, detailing the relationships among key entities like objectives, intents, and policies. The AOW is positioned as essential for improving cross-platform interoperability, governance, and the scalability of intelligent automation within enterprises.
