This case study details the migration of IBM i and AIX production workloads to Azure by a leading multinational health and life insurance and wealth management company. The objective of the migration was to eliminate data center costs and gain cloud scalability and agility as part of a broader digital transformation strategy. The company faced a data center exit and sought a low-risk solution to migrate its business-critical applications without significant disruption. Skytap on Azure was selected as the solution to facilitate this migration, allowing the company to run its IBM Power workloads in the cloud. The successful implementation was attributed to close collaboration among the company, Microsoft, and Skytap, along with thorough testing during the transition. The results included the successful migration of core insurance policy management applications, leading to reduced costs and enhanced scalability in the cloud environment.
