This case study outlines how SMX partnered with a national law enforcement agency to modernize its human resources data and analytics capabilities. The agency faced challenges with a 38-year-old legacy system that hindered service delivery and data management. SMX developed a multiphased IT modernization plan, which included migrating the agency's HR data platform to Amazon's Secret Commercial Cloud Services. This migration improved data processing speeds and allowed for the implementation of advanced analytics tools, such as ThoughtSpot and MicroStrategy, enhancing the agency's ability to generate insights and reports. The modernization efforts enabled predictive hiring capabilities, allowing the agency to forecast staffing needs and proactively address vacancies. Additionally, the implementation of a proprietary cloud-based data warehouse, Datashift, facilitated real-time data access and improved query performance. Overall, the modernization efforts resulted in significant operational cost savings and improved efficiency in HR processes.
