Next-Gen Hadoop Storage Solution with BlueField-3 and CSAL

This technical report introduces a solution for traditional Hadoop storage challenges, specifically focusing on performance and resource efficiency for modern big data workloads. The report details the integration of BlueField-3 and Solidigm’s CSAL software, which enhances throughput, reduces CPU overhead, and provides robust data protection through mechanisms such as three-way replication, erasure coding, and RAID. The document outlines the restructuring of the three-layer Hadoop storage architecture, highlighting the advantages of the new Active/Backup Architecture over traditional methods. It explains how the new solution simplifies workflows, optimizes performance for latency-sensitive workloads, and significantly reduces total cost of ownership (TCO) by saving data center space and power.
