Time Machine Solution for SAP Testing Optimization

This case study details the implementation of Time Machine by Deloitte Consulting Outsourcing during Telstra’s SAP rollout. The objective was to optimize the SAP testing procedure, which involved simulating date changes for Payroll and HR functionality in the upgraded SAP R/3 system. The traditional method required shutting down applications, resetting the system clock, rebooting, and verifying applications, which was time-consuming and required skilled administrators. The Time Machine solution enabled dynamic changes to the time and date seen by the SAP application without the need for system shutdowns or reboots. This innovation allowed Telstra to conduct all necessary testing scenarios within the project timeline while significantly reducing the need for system administrator resources. The case study highlights the effectiveness of Time Machine in streamlining the testing process and minimizing system outages during critical testing phases.
