Placement of Automated External Defibrillators in Reservoir

This project report details a pilot initiative funded by St John Ambulance Victoria aimed at enhancing public access to Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in Reservoir, Victoria. The report outlines the rationale for selecting Reservoir, which has the fifth highest incidence of sudden cardiac arrests in the state, and presents the project's objectives, which include increasing public awareness of sudden cardiac arrest, training residents in CPR and AED usage, and ensuring AEDs are accessible within 400 meters of residents. The study focuses on the deployment of AEDs, examining the geographic distribution and accessibility of these devices in relation to the local population and cardiac arrest incidents over the last five years. It also investigates the experiences of AED hosts to understand community engagement with the project. The report is structured into two main sections, addressing research questions related to population service areas and the socio-demographic factors influencing access to AEDs.
