This case study outlines the implementation of a specialized workforce model by StaffNow for a high-volume auto auction facility in Phoenix. The facility faced significant logistical challenges due to short-duration shifts, peak labor demand, and attendance inconsistencies. To address these issues, StaffNow developed a shift-focused workforce strategy aimed at improving attendance and reliability for short, high-demand auction day shifts. Key components of the strategy included a dedicated labor pool of pre-qualified auction workers, instant app-based accountability, incentivized attendance bonuses, and a certified driver safety program. The approach combined technology, incentives, and engagement to create a reliable system for consistently filling short shifts. The results demonstrated that a structured workforce model not only improved staffing reliability but also addressed one of the toughest challenges in staffing—ensuring consistent attendance for short shifts. The study emphasizes the importance of building a system that encourages worker participation and engagement.
