IT Infrastructure Modernization at Tryon International Equestrian Center

This case study details the modernization of the IT infrastructure at Tryon International Equestrian Center, a large equestrian and resort facility in Mill Spring, North Carolina. The center faced challenges with outdated hardware and a non-highly available (HA) setup, which left their environment vulnerable to downtime. The previous infrastructure consisted of three aging hosts running 20 virtual machines on VMware. The financial burden of upgrading to a highly available solution was significant, as most options required a minimum of three nodes. After thorough research, Tryon International Equestrian Center selected the StarWind HCI Appliance (HCA) for its cost-effective two-node HA setup. This choice allowed the organization to modernize its infrastructure without incurring excessive costs. The implementation of StarWind not only improved performance and reliability but also resulted in savings of $25,000 over three years compared to other solutions. The new setup has provided the necessary performance and resiliency for the IT team.
