This case study outlines the operational improvements achieved by Lake Erie College through the implementation of the StarWind HCI Appliance (HCA). The college, founded in 1856 and located in Painesville, Ohio, faced challenges with its outdated hardware and lack of redundancy in its IT infrastructure. Prior to adopting the StarWind solution, the college operated multiple hosts and HP servers with a VMware hypervisor, which left them vulnerable to potential crashes despite regular backups. The transition to the StarWind HCI Appliance allowed the college to replace outdated hardware, move to a hyperconverged infrastructure, and utilize Microsoft Hyper-V. This change resulted in improved performance, lower operational costs, and enhanced redundancy and failover capabilities. The case study details how the new system streamlined maintenance tasks and provided a stable, high-performance IT environment, setting the stage for future scalability and efficiency.
