This case study details how Permolex Ltd., a manufacturing company established in 1998, implemented StarWind Virtual SAN (VSAN) to ensure uninterrupted production in a 24/7 operational environment. Prior to the deployment of VSAN, the company relied on a standalone server running Windows SBS 2008, which posed significant risks of downtime that could compromise production data. The need for a fault-tolerant IT environment led Permolex to seek a solution that utilized Microsoft’s clustering technology while avoiding the high costs associated with a Storage Area Network (SAN). StarWind VSAN was selected for its ability to allow local storage configuration on each server, ensuring synchronization between servers in the cluster. This implementation enabled the company to perform system updates and maintenance without disrupting operations, maintaining service continuity even in the event of hardware failures. The infrastructure now supports virtual machines and clusters, fulfilling the company's requirement for uninterrupted operations.
