This case study outlines the implementation of an end-to-end surveillance solution for the South Butler County School District. The district faced challenges with its aging Network Video Recording (NVR) system, which was becoming increasingly difficult to maintain and provided inadequate image quality. The urgency to upgrade was driven by the need to ensure safety within the school environment. STEP, an IT services engineering firm, addressed these challenges by optimizing camera placements using building maps and implementing a solution with 150 multi-sensor cameras. This new technology significantly improved coverage and imagery, offering 337 unique views while saving the district approximately $60,000 in wiring and switches. The solution was designed to enhance campus safety, particularly for building exteriors, and was tailored to be user-friendly for the entire BCSD team, allowing for easy management of the surveillance system without user limitations.
