This case study documents Memorial Health's initiative to modernize its IT operations by overcoming the limitations of an aging data center. The hospital, which serves Union County and surrounding areas, faced challenges with its legacy Extreme hardware solution that was outdated and unsupported. To address these issues, Memorial Health implemented a unified fabric network, utilizing the VSP 8000 series for the core and VSP 7200s for the Top of the Rack. The modernization included the deployment of STEP's custom Dashboard, which enables monitoring, analysis, and reporting of network stability and uptime. The strategy focused on simplifying and streamlining the network through a next-generation, Fabric-based solution that automates operations using Fabric Connect technology. This approach not only enhances efficiency but also supports network segmentation for improved security, breach containment, and regulatory compliance. The successful implementation illustrates the benefits of modernizing healthcare IT infrastructure.
