This case study outlines the network solutions implemented for a senior living campus in Florida, which faced significant challenges due to an increased number of WiFi-connected devices and heightened demand for bandwidth during the COVID pandemic. The facility's residents, who typically have more connected devices than average, required a robust network to support their needs. STEP, an IT services engineering firm, assessed the situation by engaging with residents and staff to identify connectivity issues. The assessment revealed the necessity for a comprehensive network overhaul, which included the installation of Extreme Networks equipment and a Fortinet firewall. Following the upgrade, residents experienced improved wireless connectivity, with enhanced performance during video calls and streaming. The STEP Dashboard provided greater visibility into network operations, and a dedicated technician assisted residents with the transition to the new system, resulting in increased satisfaction and fewer complaints. STEP now manages the network as an extension of the facility's IT staff.
