Backup and Recovery Solutions for OpenStack Environments

This case study outlines the challenges faced by CloudFire, an Italian cloud provider, in their OpenStack backup and recovery processes. The existing backup solution required agent installations on each virtual machine, leading to labor-intensive operations and limited monitoring capabilities. CloudFire sought a more streamlined approach to simplify their backup and recovery processes. The implementation of Storware's Backup and Recovery solution addressed these challenges effectively. The agentless backup feature eliminated the need for installations on every machine, while centralized management provided complete visibility over all hypervisors and virtual machines. The solution enhanced operational efficiency and security by reducing access requirements to customer VMs. Additionally, Storware offered multiple backup strategies and flexible storage options, allowing CloudFire to tailor their backup processes to meet specific needs.
