This case study details the transition of SUNY Broome Community College from a disconnected spreadsheet-based budgeting process to an integrated financial planning platform using Strata’s Axiom® Suite. The document outlines the challenges faced by the institution, including operational inefficiencies, inconsistent data interpretation, and the burden of manual reconciliation. It explains how the decentralized budgeting structure hindered timely decision-making and created ambiguity in budget management. The implementation of the Axiom platform integrated with the Ellucian Banner ERP system provided a centralized environment for budgeting and reporting, enabling real-time data access and standardized reporting. This shift not only streamlined processes but also fostered a cultural change towards shared accountability and transparency in budget decisions. The case study emphasizes the importance of clear priorities, stakeholder engagement, and data integrity in achieving successful financial planning transformation.
