This case study details the implementation of HST turbocompressors at the Township of Neptune Sewerage Authority's wastewater treatment plant. The facility, which operates with an average flow of 8.5 million gallons per day, faced challenges with aging multi-stage centrifugal blowers that were inefficient and prone to failure. To address these issues, the Authority replaced the old blowers with HST turbocompressors manufactured by Sulzer. The projected energy savings from this installation were significant, with an estimated reduction of 123,516 kWh per year, translating to approximately $13,340 in annual energy cost savings. Actual energy savings exceeded expectations, reaching 303,315 kWh/year, resulting in a total savings of $32,800. The case study also highlights the benefits of the HST turbocompressor, including its efficient operation and reduced environmental impact. The project was further supported by an energy incentive from the New Jersey Clean Energy Program, enhancing the financial viability of the upgrade.
