Fluid-System Solutions for Oil and Gas Safety

This document is a case study detailing the challenges and solutions provided by Swagelok Pittsburgh to a large Oil and Gas customer. The customer faced significant safety issues due to the intermixing of stainless steel 316 fittings with 2507 material tubes, which resulted in site worker injuries. An investigation revealed inadequate training of maintenance personnel on fluid-system installation and confusion caused by similar high-pressure and low-pressure tube fittings. In response, Swagelok implemented the FK Series Tube Fittings to replace the existing fittings and provided comprehensive technical and installation support. This included a day-long Safety Essentials training session to ensure that all workers understood the correct procedures for tube fitting installation. Swagelok Field Engineers played a crucial role in guiding the customer through the selection and installation processes, emphasizing the importance of safety and proper training in fluid-system operations.
