This case study details the certification process of Automotive Artificial Intelligence (AAI) GmbH's ReplicaR virtual test platform (VTP) for automated driving systems (ADS) by TÜV SÜD. The objective was to establish the trustworthiness of ReplicaR within the global automotive industry, which required a fit-for-purpose check according to international standards such as ISO 34502 and UNECE regulations. TÜV SÜD utilized its Virtual Validation Readiness Index (VIVALDI) certification procedure to evaluate ReplicaR, marking it as the first successful certification of an ADS simulation test platform. The process involved a comprehensive checklist covering various aspects of scenario generation, test management, data management, and simulation execution. AAI's collaboration with TÜV SÜD led to improvements in the platform's performance and ensured compliance with regulatory demands. The certification is valid for three years, with annual inspections to maintain adherence to standards. This achievement fosters trust in the reliability of ReplicaR for testing ADS functionalities in a virtual environment.
