This case study outlines the implementation of software-defined wide area networking (SD-WAN) by a global biotech leader to achieve significant cost savings. The objective was to save $1M by transitioning to cost-effective dedicated internet access (DIA) while upgrading the corporate network. The IT team faced challenges due to limited resources and the complexity of managing over 300 global locations. They identified 75 sites for the initial SD-WAN deployment but had not completed vendor selection. To expedite the process, they engaged Tangoe’s Advisory Services, which assisted in the rapid procurement of network services. Tangoe's experts utilized an automated telecom quote and order management platform to streamline the bidding process across multiple locations. The outcome was a successful transition that not only met the $1M savings goal but also accelerated deployment by five months, resulting in nearly 700 hours of productivity gains for the IT team. The case study highlights the effectiveness of Tangoe's approach in facilitating smarter purchasing decisions and maximizing savings.
