The Great Power Shift in Decision Rights

This technical report discusses the transformative impact of Intelligent Choice Architectures (ICAs) on enterprise decision-making processes. It outlines how incorporating AI agents at scale changes the way organizations define and deploy decision environments. The report presents a framework that combines generative and predictive AI capabilities to enhance decision-making by creating sophisticated choice sets. It emphasizes the need for a new decision rights framework to manage the evolving dynamics between human judgment and machine intelligence. The report highlights three structural shifts that leaders must address: the allocation of decision rights, the design of decision environments, and the integration of AI systems into decision-making practices. By examining case studies, such as those from Liberty Mutual and Sanofi, the report illustrates how ICAs can improve organizational performance and reduce cognitive biases, ultimately leading to better decision outcomes.
