This case study outlines the implementation of Aladtec scheduling software by the Manassas Park Fire and Rescue Department to address significant scheduling challenges. Prior to 2019, the department relied on Excel spreadsheets and a less effective scheduling software, which did not meet their unique operational needs. The collaboration with local university students led to the identification of Aladtec as a suitable solution. The software automates leave requests and allows staff to manage their schedules via mobile devices, significantly reducing the time spent on scheduling tasks. The appointment of a dedicated staffing officer has further streamlined the scheduling process, ensuring proper staffing and efficient leave approvals. The transition to Aladtec has resulted in improved visibility and control over scheduling, enabling senior staff to focus on more critical responsibilities. The department anticipates that the software will facilitate growth as they plan to hire additional personnel, further enhancing operational efficiency.
